Many people take biometric scan like Aadhar card fingerprint update lightly and invite troubles like fingerprint scanner is not well captured. Therefore, in this post I am going to tell you why it is necessary to update it and how to update it. Let’s start:
What is Aadhaar Biometric?
Your fingerprint, iris and photo comes in Aadhar biometric, these three things are the most important biometric data of Aadhar card, by which the identity verification of the Aadhar card holder is confirmed, that too in a few seconds. Therefore, always keep the biometric data of your Aadhar card updated so that there is no problem in online KYC or authentication.
What is the charge for Aadhar Card Biometric Update?
Aadhar Card Biometric Update (Fingerprint, Iris and Photo) charges Rs 100, an official charge issued by UIDAI. You get your Fingerprint / Iris / Photo updated or all three, you will have to pay 100 rupees.
How to update biometric in aadhar card online
I want to tell you that Aadhaar is operated by UIDAI. And, till date UIDAI has not launched any such online service or mobile app through which you can update Aadhar card biometric sitting at home. It is impossible to do biometric update in Aadhar card online.
A fingerprint and iris scanner are required to update Aadhar biometrics. This device is very expensive and can be used only by an authorized agency which has a license to work related to Aadhar.
Therefore, you are requested not to waste your time in the pursuit of finding any online method. There is only one way to update the biometric data and that is offline under which you have to go to your nearest Aadhar Seva Kendra. You can book your appointment online before visiting the Aadhar centre, read below for more details:
- Visit the Aadhar Biometric Update Appointment Book link: https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/bookappointment.aspx?
- Select your nearest city or location and click on Proceed To Book Appointment.
- Enter your mobile number and fill the captcha code.
- Click on Get OTP.
- Enter OTP and click on Verify OTP.
- Select Update Existing Aadhar Details below Select Enrollment Type.
- Enter your Aadhar Card Number and Full Name.
- Tick mark Biometric(Fingerprint/Iris/Photo).
- Fill your DOB and click on Preview.
- Preview page will open, confirm biometric update.
- Now, select your State, City and Branch.
- Tick mark Cash or Online Payment in the payment type.
- Select your appointment date and time.
- Lastly, click on Next to book the appointment.
- Click on Print Appointment Slip to download.
Now, take your Aadhar Card and Appointment Slip to the Aadhar Seva Kendra on the allotted date and time. After reaching the Aadhar center, submit the Aadhar and appointment print out and get the biometric updated.
How to print Aadhar Card May Fingerprint or Iris Offline
If for some reason you are not able to book your online appointment, then first of all, download and print the Aadhar Card Update Form. You do not have to fill everything in this form, your name and Aadhar number will be enough. Now, locate your nearest Aadhar Card Enrollment or Update Center. By the way, you will also get the Aadhar card form at Aadhar center for free.
Lastly, take your Aadhar Card and Aadhar Update Form and visit the Aadhar Center. Tell the Aadhar Enrollment Operator to update the fingerprints in your Aadhar card. After updating the biometric, you will be given a receipt in which the enrollment number and enrollment time will be printed.
Through both these numbers, you will be able to find out whether the fingerprints have been added to the Aadhar card or not. While checking the Aadhar card status, you will know your biometric update status. Successfully, once updated, there is no need to get the Aadhar card printed again and out.
How to update biometric data of children
I want to tell you that it is mandatory to update the biometric of the children. All the children whose Aadhar card has been created by the fingerprint of their parents, all those children will have to get their fingerprint and iris updated by visiting the nearest Aadhar card center.
UIDAI has issued a proof that children have to get their fingerprint updated twice: first at 5 years and second at 15 years, it is necessary to do this. Read above to know how to update the biometric of children.
If your child has turned 5 years old, then visit your nearest Aadhar Update Center and add your fingerprint to Aadhar. Keep in mind, even after reaching 15 years, one finger and iris have to be updated.
What document proof is required to update fingerprint in Aadhar card?
No proof or document is required to update the fingerprint or iris in Aadhar. Aadhar holder just has to take his Aadhar card and go to any Aadhar center near him.
You need aadhar card update form and aadhar card to provide biometric data. Apart from this, no document is required of any kind. If possible in Aadhar, we should get our fingerprint updated every four to five years so that there is no scanning issue during online authentication.
